Sometimes we all need a break. It’s a crucial part of my process. Most of the year I’ve got my Output Switch turned ON, meaning I’m churning out ideas and manifesting them into reality.
To prevent burnout, I flipped on the ol’ Input Switch instead for the last two months.
Turning on the Input Switch means closing the studio door and getting out of the house. Out of the state. Out of the country, even. Anything to get me out of my regular routine. I needed to shake things up, and see what wakes me up inside.
Take a peek into some of my inspiration from my recent travels as I turned on the Input Switch…
First I let the colors and relaxed boho vibe of Tulum, Mexico fill me up…
Then I reunited with dear friends to dance all night to our favorite band on the beach…
Soaking up all this inspiration felt like this incredible artwork…
Back in America but still traveling, I loved the hypnotic rhythm of the endless open road. Kerouac said it best:
Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.
I appreciated the strange spaciousness of the dessert landscapes in the American Southwest…
I thought Death Valley would be depressing, but it felt cleansing and renewing instead. It cleared out all my negative thoughts, reset my heart, and calmed my nerves.
Returning to California was a re-entry into a lush landscape I’m so grateful to call home… and Spring sprung inside my heart…
I left home all emptied out and returned full of inspiration, beauty, magic, and power. I’m ready to tap into the lighthearted energy I gathered up on my travels and share it with the world.
A newly cleaned studio waits, with incense lit, meditation music playing, and a blank canvas… Time to roll up my sleeves again, and flip the Output Switch back ON!
I’d love to hear your thoughts – please comment below.
