Experiment #40: …use these three tones to draw your environment. Instead of focusing on the three-dimensional aspect of the world, convert it into flat shapes. These shapes are the most enduring, primal means of expression, from cave painting to the modern masters.
This is the view out my studio window. I loved “flattening” the tree especially. So much simpler than coaxing out the third dimension. And somehow… just as effective. Just different. Simpler, more about contrast and the in-between spaces than the dimensionality of the plants.
