Experiment #29: Exploring a Natural Place

Experiment #29: Choose a small section of a natural place to explore through touching… with eyes closed… Then with eyes open…

Experiment #29 by Meghan Oona

I choose a large succulent that reminded me of a bursting star. At the top of the page, you see my eyes-closed touching exploration. Touching it, I was surprised by how thin the spokes were, and how papery the edges felt.

With eyes open, I kept the sensation with me as I drew it more exactly. Without the touching, I think I would’ve portrayed this plant as a lot more thick, like a jade, just because I wouldn’t really explored it properly.
