I’ve been antsy to work with this photo for awhile, but the move (pics coming soon!) and a crazy summer deterred me. It felt great to finally unearth the half-started vellum and crack it out. I love her enthusiastic expression; something about it just said to me “Light.”
I took some artistic liberty and repositioned her arm to be interacting with the light beam. For the first time, I merged geometric work and portraiture with flowing abstraction. I think the three modes wound up working pretty well together. Many thanks to the beautiful and enigmatic Sonal and her photographer friend!
